2000 New man at the helm

News from the industry

A man with long experience in the caravan industry has been appointed to the top job at Fleetwood.  Richard Emrich, who previously worked for Swift Caravans and ABI, took over as Fleetwood’s managing director on November1.  He was at the Earls Court show last month and found time to chat to members manning the club stand.

His special responsibilities have previously included design and product development and he brings to Fleetwood a wide experience of manufacturing within the industry.

The Flyer hopes to interview Richard for an article in a future issue.

At the same time the factory announced several changes to its range and revealed these at the Earls Court show.  Two Colchesters, the 500-ES and the 560-4, made their debut at the show where the emphasis was very much on permanent and semi-permanent end bedrooms.  There is an addition to the Countryside range, the 550-ES, also based on the end bedroom concept.  Consequently, the company has streamlined its range somewhat, dropping the 580 Heritage, the Colchester 550-EK and the Countryside 450-2EB and 500-EB.

Both Colchester and Heritage ranges have a crisp, white exterior with navy and red coach-lines, ‘wild cherry’ furniture for the lighter interior look, and higher front shelves.

The end washrooms in the Colchesters have been completely redesigned and feature, where possible, a circular shower.
