2001 Winter - Fleetwood's new model wins top award

Fleetwood’s latest model the Heritage centre bedroom was voted Tourer of the Year by leading figures from the caravan press.  Caravanners endorsed their decision in the most spectacular way.  More than 40 CBs were sold out of a total of 118 Fleetwood vans over the six days at the show adding up ‘to a phenomenal success’ in the words of Richard Emrich, Fleetwood’s Managing Director.

“Winning the Tourer of the Year award was 36 years in the coming,” Richard told the Flyer. “and we are obviously delighted to have received recognition for all our hard work.  There were times in the past when Fleetwood might have won but it was not to be.  It was our best Earls Court show since 1994 when it was held over 10 days.  Nearly half the vans sold this year were Heritages which reflects a changing trend among caravan buyers.”

“Personally I am very pleased that we have won this award in what is my first year in the company.  We have a full order book to April and still have four major shows to go.”  With the vans back at long Melford, champagne corks were popped for the workforce to toast this success.
