1994 Fleetwood Report from Mr Mick Shaw at the AGM

Mr Shaw was surprised to see so many people had turned up despite the terrible weather.  He apologised for Mr R Allen not being present, but this was due to the fact he has been attending so many dealer weekends.

Mr Shaw said the country was still affected by recession and the touring industry was suffering like most other industries.  New caravan sales were something like 30% down on the previous year and, against this background, Fleetwood had maintained production levels.  There had not been any redundancies or short time working which they felt was important to the welfare of the labour force and the quality of caravan.

The factory was well into developments for the 1995 models, lots of new ideas, new materials, different exterior colours and new interiors.  The company was confident that it could even strengthen its position in the market place.

Mr M Shaw closed his report by paying sincere thanks from Fleetwood Caravans to everyone for the support that has been given to the factory at the various caravan shows.  Mr Shaw thanked the committee and everyone else who had helped throughout the year to make the club as good as it was and this was appreciated by Fleetwood Caravans.
