We bought a 2004 Heritage 640-ES two years ago and the varnish along the edges of the worktops is damaged.
Any suggestions as to either repair or replace?
What a great caravan! (It should be, it took us two years to decide what we wanted and we haven't seen anything we would change it for).
Response
With regards to the varnish damage this is a quite straight forward process to rectify:-
1. Carefully sand the area using a high number grade sanding paper and pay particular attention to removing all the damaged varnish (discoloured areas).
2. Clean down with white spirit and allow it to dry.
3. Mix a solution of varnish and white spirit 50/50 and apply with a lint free cloth.
4. Wipe off any excess on the worktop with a clean cloth, apply the solution as many times as it takes to get a good seal and build-up of varnish to your satisfaction, you can if you wish lightly sand down between coats with a very fine grade paper to get that high gloss smooth finish.
