I have noticed all too often that many caravanners fail to carry the most basic of tool kits. It is true that not everyone has the aptitude to be a mechanical or electrical mastermind, but anyone can carry out some basic checks before setting off.
I have a routine before every trip that takes about an hour the day before, it is as follows.
-
Check all 12v fuses
-
Is the fridge working? If in storage with no access to 240v, is it working on gas?
-
Is the water heater working as above?
-
Do I have plenty of gas?
-
Is the water pump working?
-
Is the heater working?
Although none of these checks guarantee a trouble free trip you do have the peace of mind that all is well as you set off.
