Pullman Bunks

We have had a few questions regarding how the bunk beds in the late 80’s/early 90’s models fitted and where to store the associated cushions. Amongst them were:-

I am trying to work out the bunk bed for a Fleetwood Garland 165-5 think its 1989 model.  There are a couple of fittings and lower down a lip maybe for something to rest on?

I have a 1989 Garland 165-5. Any idea where I should store the three bunk cushions during the day? I can't put them in the wardrobe as going away with three kids means that it's full.

Below are some suggestions that have been made:

From the owners of a 1991 Garland 165-5

Basically, as well as the actual bunk, there is a pre-cut piece of wood, similar to that which I've drawn on the table, in the attached picture.

This slots into the two handles, highlighted in yellow, to stop the child from rolling off the bed.

You lift the two handles until the bunk bed clears the runner that it sits in attached to the back of the van then you lower the handles towards yourself.

The sections of the bed circled in a large red circle (one left, one right), slide out ever so slightly and rest on the brown lugs highlighted with a small red circle and that is all there is to it.

There should also be a small black ladder somewhere in the van & hey presto, one bunk bed!
On my 1991 model, the bunk mattress is 1 cushion that folds in half when not in use & runs across the back of the van, from one seat to the other. If you look at the photo, you will see it passing under the window.

To get them to work you pull out and raise the bunk element, then it folds over on to itself and rest on the support mention in the original query. It’s quite heavy and takes two people.

From the responses we’ve had from Fleetwood Owners with bunks it seems others have had similar problems.

Does anyone have any different suggestions?
