Q&A – Where can I get a new PCB?

The 12v fuse assembly plate includes 10amp fuses for LIGHTS 1 AND LIGHTS 2. I recently found LIGHTS 2 fuse actually melting on the plastic section of the fuse.

My caravan is a 2004 Colchester 560-4

When I put in another fuse it flashed across the fuse terminals as I inserted the fuse. The area is black on both sides of the fuse terminal board.

The board is the type with spade connectors and 5 relays. The following is printed on the board PCB-134-MD REV I. Also 1-0 CE in a circle 94v-0 10-02.

The relays have a serial No A08B125. I have taken the board off (labelled the connectors) and given it to a friend who is an electrician to test it etc. however if this fails can a new fuse assembly plate be sourced?

Response

From what you say that there could well be an external short circuit on one or both the lighting circuits which has resulted in a meltdown of one of the PCB boards in the PDU control.

You most definitely need to rectify this to ensure it's not present before you insert the repaired or new replacement PCB or exactly the same will happen again I suspect.

I think I'd remove all the light bulbs and disconnect any fluorescent fittings before testing the wiring for insulation resistance & continuity (your electrician pal will know all about this)

If that proves to be OK make sure all the 12volt fuses are removed and replace one by one, leaving the lighting ones until last. Then on the lighting side using NEW bulbs replace one by one and switch on again leaving the fluorescent fitting until last. If all works before you get to the fluorescent fitting replace before trying it.

If you have difficulty in getting someone to repair the PCB, or you decide to replace with new let me know, at the same time giving me the info on the control unit and I'll see what I can come up with for you.

Thanks, I need to speak to my electrician friend as to how successful or otherwise he has been with the existing fuse board. I also need to ask him to follow your instructions with regard to the integrity wiring system unless the fuse board is found to be the culprit.

Thanks very much for all your trouble and help, it really is appreciated. I will be in touch.

Update

Re my previous e-mails would it be possible to locate a new PCB board?

Response

Can you provide details of the PDU that the PCB board fits into, manufacturer and type etc if it's not a 'Bonus plus in systems' unit. If it is the one mentioned the agents for these are O'Leary Motorhomes give them a phone call and ask to speak with Kev, mention the Club and he should be in a position to sort you out.

You can find the contact details off the home page of our web site.
