We were given a copy of the following notes by an owner of a 1989 Colchester - those with older vans which are fitted with a MAC5-12R may find it useful.

On the 12 volt electrics for your van try checking in the following sequence:-

I have bought a 2002 Colchester 450-2EB but it has no handbook.

I would like to know if there a built in 12v battery charger and if so how it works please.

I have just bought my first caravan - a Colchester 1300 and I am confused.  The electrical inlet says 220 to 240 volt but the electrics inside say 12v.

We have a 2004 Fleetwood Colchester.  We were away this weekend and for the first time the battery went flat.  So we plugged the grey lead from the car but could get no power into the caravan.  We read the handbook which said switch to car but could not find any switch which said caravan/car. 

We have a 1994 Garland 148/SB and are new to caravanning.  We have a new battery and the 240 volt works fine but do you know how to get the van working just on 12 volt?

The Zig panel is set to battery but as soon as the 240 volt is turned off none of the electrics work, surely we should be able to run solely on 12 volts i.e. lights, water heater and pump?

We’ve bought a 1991 Colchester 1500-2EB and are absolutely delighted with it.  It is in extremely good condition - virtually as new. We bought a fitting so that we could try out the electrics but nothing seems to work - lights etc.

I have a Heritage 560/4.  The battery gets hot.  I have been told it could be a regulator problem with the charger.  I need to fix it before I buy a new battery.

The leisure battery in my Fleetwood Heritage keeps going flat when it is in storage. Only the alarm system is active and I think this is draining the battery.

I have recently purchased a 2009 Fleetwood Meridien and I fear that my nephew has accidentally connected the battery the wrong way round.

Please advise if the battery charger on the 2005 Heritage 640-CB is for a leisure battery (Calcium Charger) green indicator on top of battery.

My charger seems to have stopped working or at least I think that's what it is.

The 12v system is not working in my 1999 Countryside 500-EB and I am having a problem with the electrical consumer unit. Do you have a circuit diagram and list of spare parts please?

The 12v fuse assembly plate includes 10amp fuses for LIGHTS 1 AND LIGHTS 2. I recently found LIGHTS 2 fuse actually melting on the plastic section of the fuse.

I only really want some advice re charging the battery on a 2007 Heritage 640-ES

The charger stopped charging the battery in the summer. Someone said there’s a reset under the fuse / consumer unit panel, didn’t know whether that was the case?

I’m having problems with the electrics in my 1994 Garland 165-5. When I plug into the mains and turn on the fridge/charger switch, then turn on the charger, it just trips straight out and a flash of light comes from the charger.

I am experiencing difficulty working out the switch positions on the control panel when towing and on site allowing the fridge and charging system to work when towing and also the charging system to work when on electric hook-up.

Just returned from a trip in our 2003 Colchester 520-EB, and had a problem with all our sockets!! They tripped three times then didn’t work at all

Luckily we found one in the in a top cupboard that was working. Help any ideas?

The electrical problem concerns the power supply within our 2007 Sonata Symphony insomuch as the lights will work but the power sockets do no respond. The isolator switch fuse appears OK but nothing is coming through to the power sockets.

Last year I had to have a new 12v fuse board fitted because the Fridge/Freezer fuse burnt out. We have now changed tow vehicle from L/Rover to KIA Sorento.

I am having a problem with the electrics to my water pump on my 1991 Crystal 148-4.

We bought a 2003 Heritage 640-ES recently and when departing for our first weekend away I noticed the fridge wouldn't work on 12v.

On later examination, I found the live feed to the 12s socket on the car had blown its fuse, a 30amp, I replaced it and it didn't blow again. However still no 12v on the fridge.

I have a Countryside 2000 the fuse spare lights are on but the fridge is not working no green light...same with Truma heater. 

The power tripped but since I turned it back on we have had this problem. Any advice would be great, thanks for your time.

Our toilet light in our 2004 Heritage 640-ES isn't working. The passage and shower lights are working OK.
