The Island Range - Bali, Java, Sumatra and Flores - 2001

2001 was Fleetwood’s 35th Anniversary of building touring caravans.  To mark this event Fleetwood produced a limited edition of special caravans which were marketed under the “Island” theme.  There were four layouts based on the best selling Colchester models and they were named after the four tropical islands, Bali, Java, Sumatra and Flores.  The Islands were launched on 7th June.

FLEETWOOD TO LAUNCH          35th ANNIVERSARY EDITION IN JUNE

To celebrate thirty-five years of manufacturing touring caravans Fleetwood will be launching a special limited build of touring caravans linked to a Tropical Island theme.  Based on four of the most popular layouts the new models will be at the Fleetwood Dealerships from the beginning of June.

SUMATRA

Based on our 2001 Colchester 500-5L. The Sumatra is the ideal family tourer providing two full sized single beds or a large double bed at the front end.  An “L” shape seating at the rear that may be converted into a double bed area with a single Pullman bunk over.

FLORES

Based on our 2001 Colchester 500-ES, but now with a separate fixed double bed area with exterior and interior access.  Wraparound seating is provided at the front with a double bed facility.

JAVA

The classic four berth end wash/shower room. Two 6’1” singles at the rear have the capability to make up into a large double bed.  A centre dinette area can be converted into a 6’ single bed with Pullman bunk over.

The end washroom deserves special mention.  Ample storage in cupboards and shelves, large wardrobe, a wash hand basin with storage cupboard under and the new circular shower pod.

BALI

Based on the Colchester 450-2EB, this stylish two berth provides a washroom/shower room identical to the Java.  Modern style soft furnishings at the front convert easily to 2 x 6’1” single beds or a large double.

The Island range offers a completely new look to the 2001 Fleetwoods.  On the exterior there are bright modern graphics, banding and logo all in keeping with the tropical island theme.  The soft furnishings are designed in warm themes of cream, fawn and terracotta and this, together with stylish contouring of the furniture and seat cushions reflect the positive modern approach that is typical of Fleetwood today.
