Q&A - Should I buy a Fleetwood Caravan now that Fleetwood are out of Business?

Soon after the factory closed in 2009 we received the following from a concerned buyer

Query

Sorry to bother you, I was just about to do a deal on a 640-ES which I like very much. I am just a little bothered since I have found out that Fleetwood have stopped trading.

This is a 2006 model in very good order, do you think that this could pose problems in near future for parts or the resale value in the future.

I would much appreciate your professional advice in this matter. Thanks in advance.

Response

It is sad that Fleetwood has ceased trading but there are many Fleetwood caravans in existence.

The Club is working hard to support its members who own Fleetwood vans and have established many ex-dealers who are committed to provide full customer service in both spares and repairs.

If you decide to purchase the Heritage you will be one of the lucky ones to own such a good caravan that others can no longer buy new. Of course, I am some what biased as I too have a Heritage 640-ES and have found the van a joy to tow and use. My advice to you, if this is what you feel is what suits your requirements, is go for it, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I don't think the demise of Fleetwood will have any effect on the resale value of these caravans as they have a very good name in the trade.
